Privacy Policy

Overview

VidLog is a local-first video diary application. Your recordings and diary entries are stored on your device by default. We do not operate any servers, and we do not collect, transmit, or have access to your data.

Data Storage

Depending on the storage mode you choose during setup, your data is stored in one of these locations — all on your device:

OPFS (Origin Private File System) — browser-managed storage, not visible in your file system.
Filesystem — a folder you choose on your device.
Ephemeral — in-memory only, lost when you close the tab.

Google Drive (Optional)

You may optionally connect your Google account to back up entries to Google Drive. When enabled:

VidLog uses the drive.appdata scope, which grants access only to a hidden, app-specific folder in your Drive — not your personal files.
Authentication happens entirely in your browser via Google Identity Services. No tokens are sent to or stored on any server.
Access tokens are held in memory only and are never persisted to disk.
You can disconnect at any time from Settings. Disconnecting clears all tokens and pending sync operations from your browser.

Data We Collect

None. Specifically:

No analytics or tracking scripts.
No cookies (other than what your browser manages for the Google OAuth flow, if you opt in).
No server-side logging — there is no server.
No telemetry, crash reports, or usage data.

Third-Party Services

Google Identity Services & Google Drive API — only if you choose to enable cloud sync. Subject to Google's Privacy Policy.
Google Fonts — fonts are loaded from Google's CDN. Subject to Google's Privacy Policy.

Data Deletion

Since all data is stored on your device (or in your own Google Drive), you have full control:

Delete individual entries from the Library.
Clear all data by clearing your browser's site data.
Revoke VidLog's access to your Google Drive from your Google Account permissions.

Children's Privacy

VidLog is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect any personal information from children.

Changes to This Policy

If this policy is updated, the "Last updated" date at the top will change. Since there is no account system, we cannot notify you directly — please review this page periodically.
